Enchilai is a community-based non-profit organisation located in Kajiado County, a rural area of Kenya and home to many Maasai communities.

We focus on mental health and well-being while empowering women and young people to strengthen their resilience, overcome challenges and build stable and hopeful futures.

Our work is community-led and culturally rooted. We believe that lasting change begins by listening to communities, building trust and creating practical pathways for people to heal, learn and thrive.

We deliver change through three interconnected pillars:

Well-being / Mental Health – counselling, trauma support, safe spaces, para-counsellor training.

Equity & Opportunity – girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment (beadwork, agribusiness, poultry, beekeeping, hay making), youth skills and digital literacy.

Planet & Sustainability – climate-smart agriculture, indigenous practices, and training women and youth in environmental leadership.

Enchilai integrates mental health, opportunity, and sustainability into a single, community-rooted framework.

Solutions designed by those closest to the problem.

Using Maasai traditions, beadwork, storytelling, and spirituality as tools for resilience.

Working across homes, schools, faith spaces, and local government.

Every program connects mental health, equity, and environment.

Inclusion, respect, and agency are non-negotiables.
